Official: Russia in talks with African states to sell SSJ 100

YEKATERINBURG, Jul 12 (PRIME) -- Russia is negotiating delivery of Superjet 100 (SSJ 100) aircraft to Nigeria, Zambia, Ghana and Namibia, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Georgy Kalamanov told PRIME in an interview released on Wednesday.

“Active negotiations to deliver SSJ100 aircraft are held with many African states. First of all, I am speaking about Nigeria, Zambia, Ghana and Namibia,” Kalamanov said.

He said that establishment of a joint leasing company which would satisfy the need of African countries in Russian planes is discussed. The project is expected to earn support of pan-African financial firms.

Russia is negotiating the terms of possible delivery of Irkut ÌÑ-21aircraft with Air Tanzania, the official said.

Kalamanov also said that Russia’s leading car makers are discussing sales of cars and car components to Africa.

Truck maker Kamaz is working on delivery of 400 trucks to Senegal. AvtoVAZ is also in negotiations to ship to the country, Renault Russia can export car bodies to Algeria and GAZ Group can establish a Russian industrial zone in Egypt.

Russian agricultural equipment maker Rostselmash plans to start selling harvesters to South Africa in 2018 and is considering entering other markets of the continent.
